Re: FGC5494

FGC5494 Newsletter July 2019 Sorry folks there should be a diagram here I will work out to add it. Hello to the Fitzpatrick Sept, Here is an update that speaks to the recent Y DNA testing. In the particular we are discussing the FGC5494 group or Laois/Kilkenny or Ossory group. Above is a screen shot...

Re: Other Events

Hi There was a focus on the historical sites within Laois. There was very little reference to the fact that DNA testing has identified other native Irish Septs who carry the anglicised surname Fitzpatrick. There was as far as I was able to discern from afar no attempt to discuss the history of the D...

Re: FGC5494

Robert Fitzpatrick has his results returned for the BigY. Thanks to the project for the gift to Robert and the chance to see how the Ossory Fitzpatrick's are connected. Robert's results have confirmed that the FGC5494 SNP is a branch SNP that is common for the Ossory DNA group. These are brave words...

Re: Autosomal DNA

I think we forget that autosomal DNA can be used in a Surname project. All the descendants of a male Fitzpatrick who lived five to six generations ago will have his atDNA and an unbroken male line will have yDNA. Building the atDNA profile of the male ancestor of the current male Fitzpatrick in the ...

Re: General Discussion

Hi All Tim here with four issues to add to the agenda for the gathering. I am not an administrator / co-administrator of the Fitzpatrick DNA project. These are long standing unresolved issues which I raise with a view to the long term benefit of the Fitzpatrick DNA project. 1. Quote of email Colleen...
Thanks Tim. As you aware, Roberta Estes website (https://dna-explained.com) has some excellent material to help people understand DNA testing. I think the autosomal material is especially good.
Mike yes I follow her blog. Emily Aulicino ...

Re: Fitzpatricks in Australia

Collette, My lot came to Sydney in the 1850's. There were six siblings who came from 1850 through to 1865. They came from a 30 acre farm located in the townland of Cloghpook about 3 kms north of Kilkenny City and near Muckalee. The generation that followed migrated to America. Each time leaving one ...

Re: FGC5494

Mike,
I believe two people have decided to do the FGC5494 SNP pack test. I am excited about this. I think it is a great offer for the Clan Society to fund some testing.

If there is anyone interested or if anyone knows of a good candidate please let me know.
